Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups via various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the NFL season and after recent discussion regarding two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the amount of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.

However it was positive to observe how Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall and then lead three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could position two LBs in the interior before drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.

At the start of the season, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be this season's dark horses. They ended last season well then excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled big and new running back their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love that head coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows how Denver are a team aiming to run first, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in positive down and distances.

It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, being able to throw on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver that layered pass across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays great composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He aims to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.

When you consistently rush it eats up time and forces the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence must defend the area downfield side to side. It can be draining.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like play-dough. He can really build something up how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach has won a championship and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB helps shape him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team good enough to face an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to be in their division. The key is is maintain this path.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win any game.

Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are also the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.

This hinges on what version Kansas City shows up they meet since Denver {beat|def
