The January transfer market is typically a time of significant speculation and possible big-money moves. A number of high-profile footballers find themselves linked with moves out of their current clubs. Here is a look at some of the top names who are poised to be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest a significant move is imminent. This 25-year-old possesses a contract with a £65 million buy-out clause active for a two-week period in early January. Recent reports suggest Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Former suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to alternative targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has impress for Crystal Palace despite a previous move to Anfield collapsing. As his contract set to expire in the summer, January is the London club's final opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous elite sides, including City and multiple European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January departure remains unlikely, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be prepared to take a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barça following new coach Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a winter exit seems increasingly likely. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his dwindling hopes of making the national squad. This much-admired Dutch midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ side. The teenager is heavily tipped to make a big-money move in January. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a deal valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
