Followers Urge Arrest of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the pop star are urging that a person who breached a fence and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing photographers and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was due to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account includes clips of him disrupting other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for digital services to block Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Many of fans had assembled in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part adaptation of the popular Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely relationship between two distinct characters.
The production itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of the previous year in the UK, and earned ten award recognitions, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
