Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his relatives shared in a announcement.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
A Notable TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, including:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a comedy group of six known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.
Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
